Sudden unexpected postnatal collapse (SUPC) of apparently healthy term infants within a few hours of birth is a rare event, but can have catastrophic consequences for the infant. High rates of mortality and neurological sequelae are reported in the literature. Incidence estimates vary (2.6 - 5/100.000), but the condition might be underreported. A case series is presented. Risk factors as well as possible underlying disorders and the role of autopsy are discussed in this talk.
